DIY Inspiration: Resurrection Fern

February 29th, 2012 / Posted by fp julia / Permalink

I first discovered Resurrection Fern a couple of years ago, and the woman behind it, Margaret Oomen, has been inspiring me ever since. Her blog is full of beautiful photography, nature, DIY ideas, and of course her many amazing crochet covered rocks. One of the coolest things about her little projects is that she uses fabrics and materials that she dyed herself using natural ingredients – it was her blog that inspired me to try out my own natural dye experiment! Since I have not yet mastered the art of crochet, I thought I’d share some inspiration – and you can check out a tutorial Margaret put together for some of her stones here, and photos documenting the process of her “missing pieces stone” here.

How pretty are these – she simply put the leaves on the stone, covered with a layer of cheese cloth, and hammered them!

Crystal Visions

February 29th, 2012 / Posted by fp julia / Permalink

Our little zen garden has gotten me thinking a lot about crystals and stones, and their healing powers. It’s not something that I really know much about, but I’ve always found it fascinating.  I love the idea that placing crystals around your body or in certain parts of the home can bring healing properties and positive energies. I also love the idea of crochet covered stones, and gold-painted rocks like the ones in our garden – a fun DIY project that can be used for decorative purposes around the home – and perhaps even make it a more zen like place in the process.  Here’s some more inspiration I’ve gathered around the web, and if any of you know any good websites or books for reading more about healing with crystals, I’d love to hear about them!
